Is the JIC Straight Connector with Carbon Steel NPT Socket, EVGE-NT Type compatible with Teflon tape or anaerobic sealant for a leak‑proof NPT connection?

Yes. The JIC Straight Connector with Carbon Steel NPT Socket, EVGE-NT Type is compatible with both Teflon (PTFE) tape and anaerobic thread sealant for creating a leak‑proof NPT connection. Its carbon steel NPT thread is designed to form a tight seal when used with appropriate sealing materials, and the product description explicitly states the NPT thread provides a tight seal when used with Teflon tape or anaerobic sealant. Use proper application technique (wrap Teflon tape in the direction of thread engagement and avoid over‑application; or apply anaerobic sealant per manufacturer instructions) to ensure reliable, pressure‑safe performance.

Can the JIC Straight Connector with Carbon Steel NPT Socket, EVGE-NT Type be used in high‑pressure hydraulic systems without additional sealing methods?

No. The JIC Straight Connector with Carbon Steel NPT Socket, EVGE-NT Type requires additional sealing methods for reliable use in high‑pressure hydraulic systems. Although its 37° JIC flare provides a metal‑to‑metal flare seal on the JIC side, the NPT thread side is tapered and does not form a leak‑proof joint by itself. According to the product description, the NPT thread achieves a tight seal when used with Teflon tape or an anaerobic sealant. For high‑pressure applications you should always use an appropriate thread sealant (PTFE tape or anaerobic/sealant rated for hydraulic service) and follow torque specifications and installation best practices to ensure safe, leak‑free operation.
