Is WEICON CLEANER-S Spray 500ml – Cleaner & Degreaser safe to use on painted surfaces and plastics without causing damage?

No — WEICON CLEANER-S Spray 500ml – Cleaner & Degreaser is not safe for all painted surfaces and plastics. Its advanced formula dissolves thermoplastics such as PVC, plexiglass, and polystyrene and also attacks conventional painted coatings. While it provides powerful degreasing and ensures excellent surface preparation, it can damage or strip certain plastics and paints. Use caution: test on an inconspicuous area first and avoid using on materials known to be sensitive to solvents.

Can WEICON CLEANER-S Spray 500ml – Cleaner & Degreaser be used safely to prepare surfaces for bonding plastics like PVC, plexiglass, and polystyrene without harming them?

No — WEICON CLEANER-S Spray 500ml – Cleaner & Degreaser should not be used on PVC, plexiglass (PMMA) or polystyrene if you want to avoid damaging them. Although the product is a very effective degreaser and cleans many substrates, its description explicitly states that its advanced formula dissolves thermoplastics such as PVC, plexiglass and polystyrene and also removes conventional painted coatings. That means it can soften, craze, etch or otherwise chemically attack those plastics, compromising surface integrity and optical appearance and potentially preventing a reliable bond. If you must prepare these plastics for bonding, use a cleaning agent specifically labeled safe for that plastic type (e.g., isopropyl alcohol or a manufacturer-recommended plastic cleaner) and follow their substrate-specific surface-preparation guidelines, or test WEICON CLEANER-S on an inconspicuous sample first.
